The challenge

As a 2022 Mazda Master Dealer, Aspley Mazda is well-known for attracting thousands of walk-in customers annually who are in the market for either new or used vehicles. Although a significant number of these customers end up buying a vehicle, as with most dealerships, a considerable percentage of customers choose to continue their search elsewhere or delay their purchasing decision.

According to a survey by Cox Automotive, just 25% of walk-in customers make a purchase, while the remaining 75% opt to look for alternatives or defer their buying decision. Given the high number of walk-in customers that Aspley Mazda receives every year, the dealership desired an automated and integrated solution to retain walk-in customers and remain top-of-mind as the preferred dealership choice.

DealDriver’s Role

Apsley Mazda's team quickly embraced DealDriver's QR code "silent salesman" decals. The purpose was to offer a contactless alternative for walk-in customers to access vehicle details while obtaining verified contact information in exchange.

The results were immediate, as the used car department of Apsley Mazda recorded more than 1,300 QR code scans and generated 360+ leads within the first two months. Thanks to DealDriver's simple Lead Management System (LMS), the dealership team found it effortless to monitor foot traffic, follow up with customers, and even notify customers via SMS when a vehicle they had shown interest in had been reduced in price.

The Results

Over 12 months, more than 5,240 cars were scanned by 2,770 unique walk-in customers. An impressive 54% of these customers willingly provided their contact information, out of which 98% were verified as genuine leads by DealDriver. Out of the 1,466 verified leads, 1019 customers provided their details during business hours, while 297 leads were collected outside of business hours.

Thanks to the sales teams’ proactive follow-up with customers, Aspley Mazda attributed an additional 200+ test drives and 100+ vehicles sold as a result of leads collected via DealDriver.
